The all-season tyre Pirelli Scorpion MS is positioned by the manufacturer as a "premium" tyre for modern SUVs and crossovers, including their versions with hybrid and electric powertrains. During development, particular attention was paid to safety on wet roads, acoustic comfort, durability, and reduced rolling resistance in moderate climates.
Silence without compromise
One of the model's strong points is its high level of acoustic comfort. The tread pattern with blocks of varying pitch and variable groove width significantly reduces the noise generated during rolling. The lightweight carcass construction provides additional smoothness, better absorbing minor road irregularities. For certain versions, a noise-absorbing technology with a layer of polyurethane foam on the inner side of the tyre is provided.
All-season use in moderate climates
Since the tyre was created primarily for the European market, its tread was optimized for driving on wet asphalt and cold interseasonal roads. The wide longitudinal grooves quickly evacuate water from the contact patch, and the developed lamella system helps maintain traction on slush and loose snow. This makes the tyre suitable for year-round use in regions with so-called "European" winters, where strong frosts and persistent snow cover are rare. Nevertheless, with regular use on ice, compacted snow, and at low negative temperatures, this tyre demonstrates a sufficiently high level of safety.
Long-lasting durability
Engineers paid great attention to the even distribution of load. The special tread profile maintains a stable contact patch shape even during prolonged high-speed driving, resulting in more even wear of the working surface. The modern rubber compound with functional polymers combines reliable traction with high resistance to wear, allowing the tyre to retain its initial operational properties for longer.
Ready for modern crossovers
The design is adapted for use on heavy crossovers equipped with hybrid and electric powertrains. Some versions are available in ELECT and Run Flat executions, taking into account the increased load and allowing continued driving after loss of internal pressure. The reduced rolling resistance helps decrease fuel consumption in vehicles with internal combustion engines and more economical use of the traction battery in electric vehicles.
Key features of Pirelli Scorpion MS:
- balanced handling characteristics make the tyre an effective solution for year-round use in regions with mild winters and prolonged periods of rainy weather;
- the complex of Pirelli's "proprietary" technologies allows selecting a version to suit the specific features of a particular vehicle;
- optimized pressure distribution in the contact patch supports even wear and helps maintain stable handling throughout the long service life;
- low rolling resistance is combined with high acoustic comfort, improving the operational properties of modern crossovers and SUVs.
