Onyx NY-W387 — a winter friction (non-studded) tire from a Chinese manufacturer, designed for operation on snowy and icy roads. The model is distinguished by its reliable fixation of the contact patch and stable behavior of the vehicle during the winter period. Its development used modern computer modeling methods, which made it possible to achieve high efficiency both on slippery asphalt and on snowy surfaces.
The central part of the tread is represented by two longitudinal rib structures with uneven edges. They are responsible for steering accuracy, directional stability, and predictability of the vehicle's behavior when moving in a straight line. The shoulder blocks form a wide contact area, which has a positive effect on acceleration and braking, as well as increasing stability during maneuvering.
An important element of the design is the developed network of three-dimensional lamellas that densely cover all the tread blocks. They create hundreds of additional engagement edges, ensuring confident grip on ice and compacted snow. Thanks to this, the driver gets maximum control over the vehicle even without using studs, and the level of safety remains high.
The design is complemented by a special rubber compound with a content of elastomers. It maintains optimal flexibility at low temperatures, which contributes to reliable fixation of the contact patch and stable coupling characteristics in any winter conditions.
