The commercial tire Normaks ND638 is used on the driving axles of highway tractors. It is distinguished by improved traction properties on winter roads, resistance to wear and good fuel economy for its class.

The tread pattern is made in a fairly open design for such tires with a large number of blocks. Thanks to this, the contact patch contains many sharp edges, with which the tire effectively grips even a slippery surface. The Z-shaped lamellas cut into each tread block contribute to this in no small measure. In addition, such elements prevent wear, providing a more even distribution of load on the road surface. The "checkerboard" arrangement of the blocks increases the contact patch and further increases resistance to abrasive wear.
