Description Nexen N'Fera SU4
The summer passenger tire Nexen N'Fera SU4 was specially created for powerful passenger cars of various classes. At the same time, belonging to the Ultra High Performance category is largely conditional, since this model is distinguished not only by its sporty honed handling, but also by a fairly high level of comfort, which significantly expands its target audience. Thanks to a size range that includes several dozen tire sizes for wheels with a mounting diameter from 14 to 19 inches, this tire is perfectly suitable for almost any modern passenger car.
High resistance to aquaplaning
One of the most important points to which special attention was paid during the development of this model is traction on a wet road. It is for this reason that the performance of the drainage system is at a very high level. The principle of its action is based on the circulation of water not only along the longitudinal, but also along the transverse drainage grooves - from the inner to the outer side of the tread. Previously, such "tricks" were used exclusively by the company Continental AG. In this case, this design feature is only an additional measure that ensures an increased speed of water circulation through the drainage system. The main load lies on the longitudinal grooves that separate the functional zones of the tread from each other. These tread elements are distinguished by a very significant internal volume, which allows them to drain almost any amount of water from the contact patch, thus providing excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Reduced rolling resistance
Another feature of the Nexen N'Fera SU4 tire is its fairly high economy indicators, which have documentary evidence in the new labeling that applies in EU countries. Reduced rolling resistance was achieved largely due to the three-dimensional bevels of the tread block edges, which are also located at a significant angle to the direction of movement. This arrangement makes it possible to significantly reduce their vibration level, which in turn reduces rolling resistance. At the same time, it is impossible not to note the high rigidity of all longitudinal ribs, which also has a beneficial effect on fuel economy.
Excellent stability when cornering
One of the distinctive features of the asymmetric tread pattern design of this model is the reinforced construction of the shoulder zones. The massive size of this part of the tread, combined with a minimal number of component elements, provides it with a enviable level of rigidity, and with it, resistance to dynamic deformation. When cornering, these features allow the tire to demonstrate excellent directional stability.
Three rigid central ribs
The central part of the tread pattern, like its shoulder zones, is also characterized by high structural rigidity. It is provided by the absence of interruptions and the massive size of all three longitudinal ribs located in the center of the tread. The presence of such rigid tread elements in this part of the pattern gives the tire a number of important advantages. The main one is the lightning-fast response of the tire even to small steering deviations. At the same time, its reactions will be not only extremely fast, but also very accurate, which significantly simplifies the process of managing the car, especially at high speed.
New rubber compound composition
As is customary for a flagship model, this tire has received almost all advanced developments that were available to the North American manufacturer. One of them is the rubber compound. Its key feature is an increased content of various silicon compounds, also known as silica. It is characterized by the ability to give the tread increased elasticity, which allows it to more closely fit the irregularities on the surface of the road. In addition, the silicon-containing components of the rubber compound have significantly increased the tread's resistance to abrasive wear, which, in turn, significantly extends its service life.
Main features of the Nexen N'Fera SU4 tire
- four longitudinal drainage grooves have a significant internal volume, which allows them to drain almost any amount of water from the contact patch, providing the tire with excellent resistance to aquaplaning;
- low rolling resistance is ensured by the minimal vibration of the tread blocks, achieved by the three-dimensional bevel of their edges, located at a significant angle to the direction of movement;
- excellent stability when cornering due to the increased rigidity and massive size of the shoulder zones;
- the rubber compound with increased silica content provides excellent traction on wet roads and increased resistance to abrasive wear.
