The Mitas XT-946 motorcycle tire is designed for off-road motorcycles, where it is installed on the rear wheel. A universal tread pattern with an open design provides excellent performance on a variety of surfaces, and special rubber compound components provide high reliability and a very long service life. Another feature of this model is the presence of an additional Ice Soft version, which has increased tread elasticity at low external temperatures, making it possible to operate in winter.

Features of the central part of the tread pattern

One of the features of the tread pattern of this model is a pronounced division into several functional zones, each of which performs a certain set of tasks. In particular, the central part of the tread provides maximum traction and adhesion characteristics in the longitudinal direction.

This was achieved due to the open design of this part of the tread pattern, which consists of separate and composite blocks of a rectangular shape. At the same time, the formed engagement edges have a curved shape, providing increased adhesion properties, especially when overcoming muddy areas.

It is also worth noting the presence of special straight lamellas on the blocks located in the central part. These tread elements of the Mitas XT-946 in addition to forming additional engagement edges, when in contact with the surface, reduce the pressure on it due to the increased area of each block. When moving on soft unstable soils, this design solution provides additional passability, and on rocky surfaces - increased adhesion due to the increased contact patch.

Additional traction due to shoulder zone lugs

The shoulder zones of the tread also contain many engagement edges formed by numerous blocks. Being at a significant angle to the ground and having a large height at the same time, they literally dig into the surface, providing additional traction on earth and sandy soils, as well as in turns, which are often overcome by a motorcycle at significant angles of inclination.
