Description Michelin XS
The Michelin XS summer tire stands out for its unique area of application. This model is designed for trucks that operate off paved roads. As a rule, it is installed on dump trucks and other wheeled equipment used in construction and other industrial fields. The aggressive Z-shaped design provides this tire with excellent cross-country capability on low-bearing soils. At the same time, it demonstrates a number of other important advantages, which will be discussed below.
"Camel's Footprint"
One of the key features of this tire is the design of its tread pattern. The French manufacturer calls it the "camel's footprint". The similarity to the "ship of the desert" is not accidental, thanks to the stepped shape of the tread blocks. Each of them consists of two parts. The upper one is installed on a wider base. This design feature allows the tire to distribute the load very evenly across the contact patch. The rounded shape of the profile also contributes to this.
Exceptional Reliability
Since the Michelin XS tire was initially created for operation on earth and sand, special attention was paid to its reliability and durability. It has a reinforced carcass thanks to an additional layer of steel cord. A similar solution was used in the design of the breaker. It also has an additional layer of steel cord, but it is located not only under the tread, but also under the sidewalls. This significantly increased both the tire's carrying capacity and the protection of the sidewalls from aggressive external influences.
Main Features of the Michelin XS Tire
- excellent cross-country capability on earth and sand due to the "camel's footprint" tread pattern;
- a reinforced carcass and breaker with additional cord increase the carrying capacity and reliability.
