Description Michelin X Multiway XD Retread
The commercial tire Michelin X Multiway XD Retread is designed for highway tractors and large-tonnage trucks. It is installed on the driving axle. It represents a tire, the tread of which is restored using the Michelin Retread proprietary technology. Its characteristics are comparable to the parameters demonstrated by fully new tires. It is distinguished by a long service life, improved traction properties on slippery surfaces, fuel efficiency, and reliability.
Reliable grip throughout the life cycle
A characteristic feature of the tread design is the use of two types of lamellas. The "double wave" is a narrow slit of a wavy shape, which enhances the grip properties on wet and slippery surfaces, forming numerous long edges. In turn, the "water droplet" is a narrow hole with a droplet-shaped side projection. This element additionally dries the contact patch, capturing and retaining excess moisture from the road surface.
Grip and braking efficiency remain virtually unchanged even with a 2/3 worn-out tread. This is due to the ability of the Regenion tread to renew the drainage grooves as it wears out.
Increased mileage
The tire is characterized by a long service life, ensured by several factors. One of them is the rubber compound, which, thanks to the use of special substances, has high resistance to abrasive wear, punctures, and cuts, while maintaining reduced rolling resistance and heat generation. Another factor is the aforementioned "double wave" lamellas, which optimize the load distribution on the road surface, making it even. This reduces the rate of tread wear. Additionally, the carcass has a rigid and robust construction, and the tread is made in two layers. Its lower part becomes the base on which a new tread pattern is placed, restored using the Michelin Retread technology. Before such radical intervention, it is possible to use another option to increase mileage by up to 25% - by cutting a new tread pattern.
Key features of Michelin X Multiway XD Retread
- represents a tire restored using Michelin Retread technology;
- the Regenion tread, which renews the drainage grooves as it wears out, maintains the initial efficiency of the tire on slippery surfaces;
- droplet-shaped and wavy lamellas prevent skidding on wet and snowy surfaces, reduce tread wear rate;
- increased mileage is ensured by the possibility of repeated restoration of the tread using Michelin Retread technology, or by cutting a pattern when the tread depth is at least 4 mm.
