Description Michelin Starcross HP4
The Michelin Starcross HP4 summer motorcycle tire was specifically designed for supercross competitions. This circumstance has led to its excellent adaptability to intensive use on various types of terrain. Additionally, this model is released in two versions - for front and rear wheels, which has largely ensured its wide range of applications.
Features of the tread pattern
Regardless of the version, the tread patterns in both cases are characterized by an open design and great depth. A multitude of individual blocks form an infinite number of differently directed gripping edges, thanks to which the Michelin Starcross HP4 tire demonstrates excellent grip even at significant motorcycle lean angles.
As for the differences, they are all caused by the specific operating conditions, which are significantly different for the front and rear tires of a cross-country motorcycle. In particular, the tread pattern of the front tire has a significantly smaller width and a semi-circular profile. This feature is due to the need to provide maximum pressure on the ground without compromising rolling resistance.
In turn, the tread pattern of the rear tire has a larger width and a more flat profile. Due to this, the contact patch has maximum dimensions, and due to the presence of a multitude of tread blocks, it has a huge number of gripping edges.
It is also impossible not to note the different direction of the transverse rows, each of which is formed by several tread blocks. Such an arrangement provides additional traction properties, ensuring better acceleration, regardless of the motorcycle's lean angle.
Main features of the Michelin Starcross HP4 tire
- the tire is specifically designed for supercross;
- the original tread pattern, which is different for the front and rear tires, is optimized for intensive use even in very harsh off-road conditions;
- excellent directional stability and high braking efficiency, thanks to the small width of the tread pattern and its semi-circular profile;
- excellent traction properties, regardless of the motorcycle's lean angle, are provided due to the large size of the contact patch, the small-radius profile of the tread pattern, and the multitude of gripping edges formed by the tread blocks.
