Michelin Primacy 4 – the novelty from the French manufacturer, which is positioned as a summer model of 2018. It was first introduced to the general public in the fall of 2017. With an asymmetrical design, the tire provides reliability of coupling characteristics, both on dry and wet road surfaces. The manufacturer also guarantees the preservation of these properties throughout the entire service life, regardless of the level of wear.
The model became a replacement for its predecessor with the number 3, while having better coupling, comfort, and reliability properties.
Improved coupling characteristics
To reduce the braking distance and improve the coupling properties, special elastomers were included in the composition of the tire compound. For the same purposes, the tread contains two types of grooves: one has a square profile, and the second is slightly tapering at the base. This structure ensures not only the efficiency of coupling throughout the entire period of operation but also minimizes abrasive wear. In turn, this significantly extends the life of the tire — it is 18,000 km longer than that of competitors (according to tests conducted by independent experts).
Also, according to the manufacturer's statement, the tire is able to maintain its traction-coupling properties even with strong wear and a tread depth of 2 mm.
Protection against aquaplaning
The model is distinguished by a developed network of lamellas that can quickly remove large volumes of water from the contact area. This contributes to maintaining coupling and clarity of control in any weather conditions.
Resistance to wear
Thanks to the use of special additives, including silica, in the compound, the tire has increased resistance to wear. The structure designed with the help of computer modeling minimizes "tear" damage that can be observed in analogs at high temperatures and intense driving.
Increased mileage
It is provided by the high-precision distribution of pressure in the contact area. This factor contributes not only to the uniformity of wear but also to the improvement of coupling qualities.
Wear indicator
The Michelin company, caring for its customers, offers an improved wear indication system. It is represented by two "sensors" at once. Firstly, the classic one, located in the side zones. Secondly, the company's proprietary logo appeared at the bottom of the ring grooves, which serves as a more vivid indicator.
