Description Michelin MULTIWAY D
A cargo tire for the driving axle of highway tractors, Michelin MULTIWAY D, differs from most of its counterparts in its much wider range of applications. This model allows for safe movement on any roads and in any weather conditions, while demonstrating very high economic efficiency, which is based on excellent fuel efficiency, reliability, and long service life.
Several types of lamellas
The wide range of applications of this tire is ensured through the use of a number of innovative technological solutions in its development. One of them is the Double Way technology. This term hides the original design of the lamellas, the walls of which have a shape that does not allow them to close when contacting the road surface, and also limits the mobility of the blocks in the transverse and longitudinal directions. As a result, the tire demonstrates both high traction and stability, especially in adverse road conditions.
In addition to them, the tread of this tire is equipped with Raindrop lamellas. They are cylindrical holes located in the center of each block. As they wear out, these miniature channels open one by one, thus forming new lamellas.
The TowerPump lamellas, in combination with the two previous lamellas, give the tire even higher traction characteristics in adverse road conditions. They are vertically arranged drainage channels of a cylindrical shape, through which water is literally sucked in and diverted to one of the nearby drainage channels. This improves traction on wet roads.
Main features of Michelin MULTIWAY D
- several types of lamellas improve traction in the most adverse weather conditions;
- a long service life is ensured by a wear-resistant compound and a reinforced design of the shoulder areas, which prevents the occurrence and development of uneven wear.
