The Michelin Defender2 summer tire is designed for everyday use. It is characterized by balanced driving properties, demonstrating comfort in handling, stability of grip on dry and wet surfaces, braking efficiency, along with a quiet and smooth ride, fuel economy, and an extended service life.
One of the key features of the tire is the profile of its tread. It is largely borrowed from commercial tires of the French manufacturer, with a characteristic flat central part and a trapezoidal shape of the shoulder zones. This significantly expands the contact patch, providing a more even distribution of load on the road surface. As a result, the grip properties are improved, control over the trajectory during maneuvers is facilitated, and the process of tread wear is substantially slowed down, increasing the tire's mileage.
The tread pattern is executed in a classic design for road tires with five longitudinal ribs. In the central part, they are narrowed, reducing rolling resistance and providing more stable grip during straight-line movement. The shoulder zones contain elongated transverse edges formed by blocks. These elements improve traction and braking properties on wet surfaces.
It is also worth noting the use of a high-tech rubber compound. This largely provides the tire with universality in application and balance of its driving properties. The compound contains a large amount of "silica", which increases the elasticity of the tread at low temperatures, as a result of which the tire demonstrates excellent grip on wet surfaces. The use of special polymers makes the compound more resistant to tearing and stretching, which additionally enhances the grip properties, increases its resistance to abrasive wear and the formation of cracks and small cracks.
