The Michelin Alpin A6 winter passenger tire is suitable for most modern passenger cars. Like the previous model with the A5 index, it was developed taking into account the winter climate in Western and Central European countries. In sufficiently specific weather conditions, it is distinguished by reliable traction and braking efficiency on snow and wet asphalt, acoustic comfort, and pronounced fuel-saving properties.
EverGrip
Along with other tires of the current generation, this model was developed using EverGrip technology. This technical innovation ensures the preservation of traction properties with strong wear of the tread part of the protector. This ability manifests itself due to the "hidden" drainage grooves. They appear as the tread wears out instead of the disappearing standard lamellas.
High density of lamella arrangement
Compared to the model of the previous generation, the tread part of this tire contains an increased number of lamellas. The geometric parameters and direction of these slots have changed. They have become longer, and in the central part, they are located at a more aggressive angle. This significantly improves both longitudinal and transverse traction properties on slippery surfaces.
Large shoulder blocks
Another innovation is the changed design of the shoulder areas. They contain a large number of blocks, but in this model, their sizes have been significantly increased. This solution significantly simplifies the process of managing the car when maneuvering, especially at high speed. The larger blocks provide better traction properties, making them stable. The tire reacts much faster and more accurately to the driver's actions.
Optimized rubber compound
Specifically for this tire, the rubber compound from which the tread is made has been significantly changed again. During its production, smaller particles are used, and special polymers are applied to ensure high uniformity of the finished product, affecting the compound at the molecular level. As a result, the tread part of the protector retains optimal elasticity in a wider temperature range. In combination with increased strength and durability, this noticeably improves traction and fuel-saving properties, as well as resistance to wear.
