Description Michelin Agilis LT
The Michelin Agilis LT summer tire can still be considered one of the latest developments of the French manufacturer, as it has been repeatedly modernized. This model is designed for installation on any axles of small-capacity trucks, as evidenced by the abbreviation LT, i.e. light truck (light track). The size range includes three of the most popular sizes — 7.00R16, 7.50R16 and 8.25R16, which allows this tire to be used on most modern models of minibuses and light trucks.
Durable Technologies
This tire was one of the first to widely use Durable Technologies. It consists of a whole range of design solutions aimed at ensuring reliable traction with any type of coating, as well as extending the life of the tire.
The S-shaped tread pattern of the Michelin Agilis LT consists of three longitudinal ribs located in the central part, as well as a pair of shoulder zones. Each of these tread elements consists of many small blocks. Thanks to this, the contact patch has numerous edges that provide reliable and stable traction, especially on slippery coatings.
"Double wave" lamellas
These tread elements are also one of the results of the application of Durable Technologies. The main functional purpose of three-dimensional self-locking lamellas of a wave-like shape is to increase the stiffness of each tread block. As a result of their action, the handling characteristics on wet coatings are improved. In addition, due to the increased stiffness of the blocks, the uniformity of the load distribution over the contact patch is improved, which not only increased the tire's carrying capacity but also improved the durability of the tread to uneven wear, thereby extending its service life.
"Water droplet" lamellas
The "water droplet" lamellas owe their appearance to Durable Technologies. The key feature of these tread elements is that they only start working with significant tire wear. Thanks to their opening, the tread gets additional edges, which allows restoring the traction characteristics to almost the initial level.
InfiniCoil Technology
The main purpose of this technological solution is to increase strength, reduce rolling resistance, and increase resistance to uneven wear by providing optimal distribution of external pressure over the contact patch. All this was achieved due to the appearance in the tire carcass design of a new additional layer, which is located between the breaker layers. It is a strong steel cord wound around the circumference parallel to the direction of movement.
Main features of Michelin Agilis LT
- Excellent directional stability due to the 5-rib structure of the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern;
- Large contact patch size due to the massive size of all tread ribs;
- Numerous tread blocks form an innumerable number of sharp edges, which ensures reliable and stable traction;
- A set of design solutions that are part of the Durable Technologies provide excellent traction and coupling characteristics on any type of coating, as well as extend the life of the tire.
