Description Metzeler Racetec Slick Compk
The Metzeler Racetec Slick Compk motorcycle tire is designed exclusively for amateur racing and racing preparation. This model differs from the tire with the same name, but without the Compk prefix, only in the composition of the rubber compound. The rubber compound used in this tire has increased resistance to the dangerous phenomenon of "cold-tearing", i.e. uneven wear of the tread due to the tire not being warmed up to working temperature.
Thanks to the changed composition, the new rubber compound heats up much faster to working temperatures, and also provides stability of traction properties when overheated. As a result, the Metzeler Racetec Slick Compk motorcycle tire retains all its main characteristics at the initial level for a significantly longer time, which allows less frequent tire changes.
This model was created using a number of advanced developments, most of which have proven their high efficiency on other models of this German manufacturer. First of all, it is worth noting the presence of a steel cord in this tire, the threads of which are located at a zero angle relative to the direction of movement and at an optimal distance from each other, which provides high rigidity in those areas of the tread where it is necessary. This was achieved thanks to the use of two well-known technologies - 0° Steel Radial and Metzeler Advanced Winding. In addition, these two technological developments made it possible to reduce the weight of the tire, reduce rolling resistance, and increase resistance to punctures and cuts.
Another technology that had a significant impact on uncompromising handling was Contour Modelling Technology. It represents a profile with variable curvature, which allows for optimal contact patch area sizes, regardless of the driving mode.
Main features of the Metzeler Racetec Slick Compk motorcycle tire
- The advanced rubber compound provides fast and even heating to working temperature, while maintaining all main characteristics at a stable level when overheated;
- The steel metal cord with longitudinal winding made it possible to reduce the weight of the tire, while increasing its resistance to dynamic deformation;
- Increased rigidity of the tread in certain areas is provided by an advanced winding method with varying density of steel cord threads;
- The profile with variable curvature provides excellent handling and control accuracy.
