Description Kumho KRS24
The Kumho KRS24 truck tire has a wide range of applications, despite being designed exclusively for installation on the steering axles of heavy-duty trucks and buses used in interregional transportation. This model is beneficial due to its excellent traction properties on all types of asphalt concrete pavement, not only in summer but also in winter. These are not the only advantages of this tire, which will be discussed below.
Extremely low rolling resistance
Since this model was initially designed for use in commercial transportation, particular attention was paid to ensuring maximum fuel efficiency during its development. This was achieved through several technical solutions that affected not only the tread pattern but also the carcass design.
The latter became very rigid and resistant to dynamic deformation that occurs during movement due to the addition of extra layers, and the sidewalls of the Kumho KRS24 tire were significantly reinforced. As a supplement, South Korean specialists equipped it with a tread pattern featuring five longitudinal ribs of roughly equal size, which are highly rigid, ensuring even lower rolling resistance.
Excellent wear resistance
The above-described tread pattern design provided the tire with another advantage, namely increased resistance to uneven wear caused by non-optimal distribution of external pressure across the contact patch. The five longitudinal ribs, evenly distributed across the tread, minimize the occurrence of this phenomenon, thereby ensuring a longer service life for the tire. Additionally, it is worth noting the presence of special components in the rubber compound that make the tire's tread more resistant to abrasive wear.
Unique structure of longitudinal drainage grooves
All longitudinal ribs are separated by wide grooves that perform not only drainage functions. Thanks to their wavy shape, they significantly reduce the level of resonant noise and vibrations, and also quickly remove stones and other solid objects that get stuck in them. However, water evacuation from the contact patch is their primary function, which they perform excellently, providing the tire with excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Main features of the Kumho KRS24 truck tire
- The tire is designed exclusively for installation on the steering axles of heavy-duty trucks and buses used in interregional transportation;
- Low rolling resistance and excellent directional stability thanks to 5 rigid longitudinal ribs and a deformation-resistant reinforced carcass;
- Excellent wear resistance is ensured by the even distribution of external pressure across the contact patch and special components in the rubber compound;
- Excellent traction on wet roads due to four drainage grooves, whose wavy shape reduces the level of resonant noise and also facilitates more effective removal of foreign solid objects from the tread.
