Description Kumho KRD28
The KRD28 truck tire was specifically designed for the drive axles of high-capacity trucks, which are mainly operated on roads with asphalt concrete pavement. The key features of this model are the combination of durability, high traction and adhesion properties, and reliability.
Optimized tread pattern
As mentioned earlier, this model was initially designed for operation exclusively on the drive axles of trucks. This is reflected in a number of characteristic features of the tread pattern. It is distinguished by the presence of a large number of gripping edges formed by a multitude of quadrangular blocks. At the same time, all elements of the Kumho KRD28 tread are evenly distributed over six longitudinal ribs. This choice by the Korean tire makers was dictated by the desire to provide the tire with maximum traction and adhesion characteristics in the longitudinal direction.
Excellent directional stability and fuel efficiency
Despite the presence of a large number of gripping edges, this tire is favorably distinguished by excellent directional stability and rolling resistance. This was achieved thanks to the use of several solutions. First of all, six longitudinal ribs were formed from a multitude of separate tread elements, while they, made in the form of a quadrangle, are located along the tread, and their edges are at a significant angle to it.
Excellent grip on wet roads
Another interesting feature of the tread pattern of this model is the transverse lamellas located on the surface of each block. During movement, they form additional gripping edges, each of which starts where the previous one ends. Thus, they form a very long gripping edge that stretches across the entire tread pattern.
Main features of the Kumho KRD28 truck tire
- the tire is designed for drive axles and operation on solid surfaces;
- the optimized symmetric tread pattern contains a multitude of transverse edges, which provides the tire with excellent traction and adhesion properties in the longitudinal direction;
- six longitudinal ribs in combination with a small distance between blocks, which makes it possible to achieve high directional stability and fuel efficiency;
- excellent grip on wet roads is provided by a high-performance drainage system and a multitude of additional gripping edges formed by a large number of lamellas.
