Description Kumho KRA18
The Kumho KRA18 truck tire is equally suitable for installation on both steering and driving axles of trucks of various tonnages, as well as buses. A characteristic feature of this model is a very attractive price-quality ratio, which is ensured by the widespread use of simple but very effective technical solutions.
Even tread wear
This model is equipped with a very simple 4-rib tread pattern. Its characteristic feature is the almost identical size of the two longitudinal ribs located in the central part and the two shoulder zones. This scheme of arranging tread elements made it possible to achieve a virtually rectangular shape of the tire's contact patch with the road surface. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly reduce the risk of uneven wear, which seriously reduces the life of the tire.
Reinforced shoulder area design
Another distinguishing feature of the Kumho KRA18 tire is the reinforced design of the shoulder areas of the tread, which are a single solid element with a high degree of stiffness. This solution made it possible to eliminate a number of serious problems. First of all, the presence of very rigid elements in this part of the tread made it possible to significantly increase the tire's stability when cornering. Additionally, it was possible to significantly reduce rolling resistance, the magnitude of which directly affects fuel efficiency.
Block structure of the central part
The central part of the tread is occupied by two longitudinal ribs formed by a multitude of blocks spaced at a minimum distance from each other. Another distinctive feature of this part of the tread is the original trapezoidal shape of the blocks themselves, forming a multitude of multidirectionally arranged edges. This made it possible to provide the tire with excellent traction and braking characteristics.
Key features of Kumho KRA18
- The almost identical size of the tread elements gave the contact patch the shape of a regular quadrangle, ensuring thereby a virtually ideal distribution of external pressure;
- Four longitudinal ribs provide excellent directional stability;
- The solid design of the shoulder areas of the tread made it possible to achieve good stability in corners, as well as a reduction in rolling resistance;
- The large number of blocks in the central part of the tread, combined with their trapezoidal shape, made it possible to maximize the saturation of the contact patch with numerous traction edges;
- Excellent grip on wet surfaces, thanks to the high performance of the drainage system.
