The Kumho KRA11 truck tire is one of the latest developments from the world-renowned South Korean manufacturer. A distinctive feature of the novelty is its versatility. This model is designed for year-round operation, both on trucks of various capacities and on buses used not only in the city but also beyond its limits. At the same time, the size range is extremely well thought out and extensive, with 12 sizes for wheels with a mounting diameter from 16 to 22.5 inches. In addition, this tire can be installed on both the drive and steering axles.
Wide shoulder areas
The tread pattern of the Kumho KRA11 model features very wide shoulder areas. Moreover, thanks to the solid, uninterrupted design, they have very high stiffness. This structure of this part of the tread allowed the South Korean tire makers to solve a number of very important tasks. First of all, the evenness of the external load distribution over the contact patch was significantly improved due to its practically rectangular shape, which increased the tread's resistance to uneven wear. Additionally, the absence of any edges on the surface of the shoulder areas made it possible to substantially reduce rolling resistance, thereby improving fuel efficiency.
Low noise level
In contrast to the shoulder areas, the central part of the tread contains many grip edges formed by numerous blocks. These tread elements form two longitudinal ribs, providing the tire with good directional stability. It is also worth noting the trapezoidal shape of the blocks and the minimal distance between them, which, on the one hand, reduces the impact of dynamic deformations and, on the other hand, ensures a lower noise level due to the varied arrangement of the blocks.
