Description Kumho 973
The Kumho 973 truck tire has an extremely specific application area. This model is designed for installation on any axle of medium-duty trucks, the operation of which is associated with frequent visits to dirt roads and rough terrain. It is there that it will demonstrate its strongest features, which include high reliability, durability, and resistance to even the most unbearable conditions.
Excellent performance on asphalt
Nevertheless, the Kumho 973 model is quite well adapted for operation on public asphalt roads. This should be thanked to the South Korean tire makers who equipped it with a tread pattern with four longitudinal ribs, each of which is devoid of any blocks, representing a solid element. In combination with their massive size, this made it possible to maximize the contact patch size, provide excellent directional stability at high speed, while reducing rolling resistance.
Great off-road performance
Despite the closed design of the tread pattern and the almost complete absence of separate blocks, the contact patch has a significant number of edges. They are formed by the zigzag-shaped edges of the longitudinal ribs, as well as the deep cuts in the shoulder areas. The latter are dirt hooks that provide excellent traction on sandy and earthy soils.
Main features of the Kumho 973 truck tire
- a special rubber compound of the tire sidewalls provides them with increased protection against aggressive environmental influences;
- additional reinforcing elements in the breaker layer have significantly increased the strength of the tire carcass;
- powerful dirt hooks in the shoulder areas of the tread, combined with their beveled profile, allow the tire to confidently feel on earthy and sandy soils;
- excellent resistance to abrasive wear, punctures, and cuts, thanks to special components of the tread rubber compound;
- the zigzag shape of the longitudinal ribs provides the contact patch with a large number of sharp edges, which ensures good traction and adhesion properties of the tire on any surface;
- four rigid longitudinal ribs reduce rolling resistance, providing reliable and stable behavior during high-speed driving on asphalt roads.
