The target audience for the Hankook W320B i*cept Evo2 winter tire is owners of the fastest versions of compact and mid-size passenger cars. The model is offered in several dozen sizes with diameters ranging from 16 to 20 inches. All options have high speed indices - from H to W. And in any size, the tire provides stable and predictable behavior on low-friction surfaces.

Ice Axe Shaped Grooves

A feature of the asymmetric design used in the tire is the abundance of small details that enhance the effectiveness of the tread pattern on slippery surfaces. One of them is the transverse grooves between the blocks in the outer shoulder area. They have an original ice axe shape, which creates a multitude of high sharp-edged directional edges. They improve traction on snow.

Z-Shaped Grooves

The outer shoulder area also features Z-shaped longitudinal grooves. They improve longitudinal traction on snowy surfaces due to their shape and location.

Sipes and Lamellas

Confident behavior on icy surfaces is provided by lamellas and special droplet-shaped sipes. The former are made three-dimensional, which limits the mobility of the blocks when the edges are opened. As a result, traction on ice and wet asphalt not only increases but also becomes stable. Droplet-shaped sipes increase the effectiveness of the tread on packed snow, enhancing the action of 3D lamellas.

Expanded Contact Patch

In the side projection, the profile of the tread has a changing curvature. Along with the increased size of the shoulder areas, this allowed the contact patch to be significantly expanded, making it larger and giving it a nearly square shape. This has a positive effect on handling, which is stable and predictable regardless of road surface characteristics and driving mode.

Reduced Block Size

From the inside, the blocks are reduced in size, have a cubic shape, and are separated by narrow grooves. This design further increases the contact patch, ensures its stability, which has a positive effect on handling and traction, especially on wet and snowy surfaces.
