The Hankook RW15 Winter i Pike LV winter tire is designed for commercial vehicles of small capacity. It favorably differs from numerous analogs of other brands with improved coupling properties on icy and snowy surfaces. At the same time, the operational qualities inherent in commercial tires have been fully preserved in this model. The manufacturer offers it in two versions - with studs and without them. In the latter case, the tread provides places for their installation.
The tread pattern, like that of the "passenger" models of the Korean brand, is made with a directed symmetrical V-shaped arrangement of drainage elements. The key difference is the increased size of the blocks. In combination with the optimized profile of the tire's running part, this increases the carrying capacity of the tire, its resistance to wear, and the stability of its coupling properties under constant exposure to high weight loads.
Like "passenger" tires, the tread is covered with lamellas. Narrow zigzag-shaped cuts, forming numerous sharp edges in the contact patch, allow the tire to grip the slippery road surface much better. It is worth noting the use of a rubber compound with an increased "silica" content, which provides elasticity at low temperatures.
Main features of Hankook RW15 Winter i Pike LV
- a tread pattern adapted to the features of the design and operation of commercial vehicles, effective on any winter surfaces;
- the possibility of installing studs allows, if necessary, to improve traction on icy surfaces;
- the V-shaped arrangement of drainage grooves minimizes the risk of aquaplaning and slushplaning, increasing the directional stability on slippery roads;
- numerous zigzag-shaped lamellas enable effective implementation of traction and braking effort on ice and rolled snow.
