The all-season tire Hankook RH12 Dynapro HT, like other representatives of the Dynapro family, is addressed to owners of crossovers and SUVs. Additionally, the HT prefix in the name means High Terrain, which implies operation mainly on roads with solid coverage. However, the structure of the tread pattern is such that this model does not shy away from a dirt road that has become loose from mud.
It is also worth noting a certain limitation of the range of tire sizes offered by the manufacturer - there are only 10 of them. However, all of them can be called popular, which to some extent compensates for this disadvantage.
At present, most modern tires that allow year-round operation are equipped with S-shaped tread patterns, especially for SUVs. This model did not become an exception. Such a choice is due to the fact that tread patterns with this design have excellent characteristics on various types of coverage. Moreover, it is impossible not to note the absence of directionality of the tread pattern of this tire. This factor is very important if we consider the specifics of SUV operation. After all, such a tire provides high traction characteristics when moving both forward and backward, which has a serious impact on passability. However, let's repeat that this model is designed exclusively for asphalt roads.
In particular, the narrow focus is unequivocally hinted at by the presence of a wide longitudinal rib in the central part of the tread. Since it does not have any interruptions throughout the tread, this rib is a solid element with a very high degree of stiffness. It is thanks to this that the Hankook RH12 Dynapro HT tire owes its excellent directional stability at high speed, as well as the immediacy of responses. Due to this, sports notes appeared in the handling character, which is somewhat unusual for an SUV tire.
In addition, the central rib has special protrusions. Their function is to improve traction with snow-covered roads by forming additional edges. This technical solution cannot be called excessive, given the possibility of year-round operation.
Similar elements are present in the shoulder areas of the tread, which also have a solid and very rigid design. Moreover, the shoulder areas have special grooves with variable depth. Thanks to them, higher braking efficiency on snow is achieved.
The drainage system of this tire consists of four longitudinally arranged grooves. Their fairly impressive size allows them to easily cope with both water and snow. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent stability, both to aquaplaning and slushplaning, thus providing reliable traction with both wet and snowy roads.
