The all-season passenger tire Hankook H724 Optima has replaced the H727 model, which has proven itself to be one of the best. Like its predecessor, it is designed for year-round use on most modern passenger car models.
One of the key features of this model is the attractive price-to-quality ratio. For a relatively low cost, the Hankook H724 tire offers a long service life, the possibility of use all year round, as well as reliable and stable traction on various types of surfaces. This was made possible by the widespread use of computer simulation tools, which made it possible to obtain an optimal tread pattern in terms of efficiency. At the same time, it is impossible not to note the wide range of sizes, which includes several dozen options with a wheel mounting diameter from 13 to 17 inches.
The tread pattern is designed according to the classical scheme and contains five ribs, located longitudinally. Of these, three longitudinal ribs are located in the central part. This structure provides the tire with excellent stability, especially when making sharp maneuvers. In addition, the longitudinal rib located in the very center of the tread is a solid element with a very high degree of stiffness. In combination with impressive dimensions, this made it possible to significantly reduce the tire's response time to steering wheel rotation, as well as reduce rolling resistance, which, in turn, led to an improvement in fuel efficiency.
To ensure reliable traction on snowy surfaces, South Korean tire engineers have equipped the tread pattern with a large number of elliptical lamellas. These elements have a dual purpose. Firstly, when driving on a wet road, they, like ordinary car windshield wipers, remove moisture from the surface, thereby improving traction with it. Secondly, on snowy surfaces, they form additional traction edges, which allows for more confident movement on such a slippery surface.
Another feature of this model is the design of the drainage system. The longitudinal water-removing grooves characteristic of most passenger tires are supplemented by a large number of transverse channels, each of which has a slightly curved shape. This configuration allows to minimize the risk of any vortices in the flow of water being removed from the contact patch. Due to this, the speed of its passage through these channels is significantly increased. In addition, the large size of the longitudinal grooves allows for easy handling not only with water but also with snow slush, which provides high resistance to slushplaning.
Main features of the Hankook H724 Optimo model
- Symmetric non-directional tread pattern is ideal for safe driving on various types of surfaces, including snowy ones;
- The rigid central rib has given the tire excellent directional stability and excellent fuel efficiency;
- The five-rib design of the tread pattern, thanks to which the tire demonstrates excellent handling, both on dry and wet surfaces;
- The optimally selected composition of the rubber mixture provides the tire with a long service life, resistance to punctures and cuts, as well as excellent traction.
