DescriptionDescription Hankook RW10 Winter i*cept X 285/60 R18 116T
The Hankook RW10 Winter i*cept X winter tire is installed on crossovers and SUVs. It is adapted for use on snowy and icy roads, demonstrating on them, without studs, fast and precise reactions to the driver's actions, low noise and vibration levels, as well as wear resistance.
High efficiency is provided by both the directional design of the tread pattern and its small details. One of them is the stepped profile of the bottom of the grooves between the blocks of the central and shoulder zones. The sharp edges formed by them enhance traction on snow, increasing directional stability. The rib located in the middle has an arrow-shaped form, forming very long and inclined edges at a large angle. They also prevent lateral skidding when moving in a straight line at high speed. In addition, the central part contains long inclined drainage grooves. These elements effectively prevent aquaplaning and slush planing.
This model was one of the first in the line of the South Korean brand, where the Grip Claw technology was applied. It represents sharpened edges of the blocks in three projections. These elements increase the efficiency of the 3D lamellas cut into them, increasing the contact area with the icy and snowy surface, both in the longitudinal and transverse direction. As a result, the tire demonstrates more precision and speed in handling, enhancing traction when accelerating.
Another innovation was the special holes in the tread pattern - Spuit. Essentially, these are micro-pumps that, when in contact with the road surface, capture and retain moisture. The dried contact patch thus provides better traction, especially on wet and icy surfaces.

- Who is it suitable for
- Hankook RW10 Winter i*cept X reveals its strengths in urban and highway operation of all-wheel drive crossovers. Buyers more often note the quiet ride — many call the tyres "noiseless", which is a rarity for the winter season. The softness of the construction provides comfort on unevenness, and the directional tread pattern confidently drains water and snow slush. Owners of Chery Tiggo, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota Highlander praise the stability on wet asphalt and predictable braking. Wheel balancing is easy, most specimens require minimal balancing weights. The price looks like a reasonable alternative to premium brands without losing key consumer qualities. For regions with moderate winter, where snow and wet asphalt prevail, and ice is rare, the purchase looks logical. The lifespan allows you to count on 4-5 seasons with careful operation.
- Who should consider an alternative
- It's better to choose a different class if you live in a region with frequent black ice and frozen roads — the friction mixture won't provide the grip of studded tyres. For those who enjoy speeds above 130-140 km/h, it's worth considering that at high speeds, a feeling of instability appears and directional stability decreases. For situations where maximum grip on clean ice is required, it's more reasonable to look towards studded models. If you expect sports-like handling sharpness, the soft comfortable design won't meet expectations. When buying, it's worth clarifying the year of manufacture — there are offers of tyres 2-3 years old.
- Main reason for choice
- The main argument for purchase is the combination of quiet comfortable ride and confident behavior on snow and wet asphalt at an attractive price. You get Korean quality without overpaying for a premium brand, while key winter characteristics remain at a decent level. Practical benefits are evident in daily urban use, where low noise and softness are important. A reasonable compromise is to accept weaker traction on ice in exchange for comfort and quietness. For crossover owners with four-wheel drive who do not plan extreme winter trips, this is a balanced choice. The final advice: if your scenario is city and highway up to 130 km/h in moderate winter conditions, the purchase is justified.
