Hankook RW10 Winter i*cept X

The Hankook RW10 Winter i*cept X winter tire is installed on crossovers and SUVs. It is adapted for use on snowy and icy roads, demonstrating on them, without studs, fast and precise reactions to the driver's actions, low noise and vibration levels, as well as wear resistance.

High efficiency is provided by both the directional design of the tread pattern and its small details. One of them is the stepped profile of the bottom of the grooves between the blocks of the central and shoulder zones. The sharp edges formed by them enhance traction on snow, increasing directional stability. The rib located in the middle has an arrow-shaped form, forming very long and inclined edges at a large angle. They also prevent lateral skidding when moving in a straight line at high speed. In addition, the central part contains long inclined drainage grooves. These elements effectively prevent aquaplaning and slush planing.

This model was one of the first in the line of the South Korean brand, where the Grip Claw technology was applied. It represents sharpened edges of the blocks in three projections. These elements increase the efficiency of the 3D lamellas cut into them, increasing the contact area with the icy and snowy surface, both in the longitudinal and transverse direction. As a result, the tire demonstrates more precision and speed in handling, enhancing traction when accelerating.

Another innovation was the special holes in the tread pattern - Spuit. Essentially, these are micro-pumps that, when in contact with the road surface, capture and retain moisture. The dried contact patch thus provides better traction, especially on wet and icy surfaces.
