Description Hankook DL10
The Hankook DL10 truck tire is one of the representatives of the new line of truck models E-cub, the name of which is derived from three English words: Energy, Economy, and Environment. Their translation into Russian very accurately characterizes the key features of this model, the main ones being energy efficiency and careful attitude towards the environment.
Applicability
The presence of the letter D in the alphanumeric index of this tire, combined with its size, clearly indicates its purpose. It is designed for operation on the driving axles of trucks used in interregional transportation. I.e., this tire was specifically created for long-distance trips over long distances.
Increased traction properties
One of the distinctive features of this tire is its increased traction properties, not only on dry but also on wet roads. This is mainly due to the symmetrical directional tread pattern, which features a V-shaped arrangement of elements. All of them are grouped into six longitudinal ribs, four of which are located in the central part and have a very rigid solid structure.
However, the tread pattern contains a lot of traction edges. All four longitudinal ribs in its central part have many straight lamellas, which, when in contact with the road surface, form a large number of sharp edges that effectively grip even the smallest irregularities. The shoulder areas contain no fewer traction edges, representing two rows of separate blocks, the surface of which also has straight lamellas. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent traction properties in the longitudinal direction.
Low rolling resistance
In addition to its excellent traction characteristics, this model is also beneficial due to its very low rolling resistance. This was largely achieved due to the high stability of the Hankook DL10 tire to dynamic deformation, which occurs during movement. It is provided by the reinforced carcass design, the cord of which was wound with a steel thread of increased diameter. It is also worth noting the presence in the central part of the tread of four very rigid longitudinal ribs, which are devoid of any interruptions throughout their length. This allowed to further reduce the rolling resistance.
Long service life
When developing this model, the South Korean tire manufacturers paid much attention to ensuring the maximum possible service life, which is not surprising, given its purpose. This was mainly achieved due to the reinforcement of the carcass, which became much better at resisting dynamic deformations that occur during movement, as well as the tread pattern.
In particular, the stiffness of the shoulder areas was increased. To do this, the company's specialists had to significantly increase the size of the blocks and give them a practically square shape. In addition, special reinforcing inserts appeared between them, which turned the shoulder areas into a single whole. As a result, the external load began to be distributed over the contact patch much more evenly, which made it possible to minimize the likelihood of uneven wear, which significantly reduces the service life of the tire. Moreover, as a result of this, the shape of the contact patch became practically rectangular and stable, regardless of the driving mode and road surface characteristics, which gave the handling accuracy and predictability.
Main features of the Hankook DL10 truck tire
- a tire for the driving axles of trucks, developed specifically for long-distance trips over long distances;
- low rolling resistance, thanks to the 4-rib structure of the central part of the tread;
- long service life is ensured by the optimal distribution of the external load over the contact patch, special components in the composition of the rubber mixture;
- very high traction properties, both on dry and wet roads, thanks to the optimized V-shaped tread pattern, which contains many transverse traction edges.
