Description Hankook AL15
The Hankook AL15 truck tire has been a part of the South Korean tire giant's production lineup for quite some time. Its longevity on the assembly line is due, first and foremost, to its exceptionally versatile application. It is perfectly suited for use on any axle of not only trucks but also buses.
Excellent directional stability at any speed
This model is distinguished by its very high directional stability when moving at any speed. This is mainly due to the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern, which consists of six longitudinal ribs. At the same time, each of these tread elements has very high stiffness, which provides them with excellent resistance to deformation changes that occur during movement. Due to this feature, the tire demonstrates very reliable and stable behavior at any speed.
Low rolling resistance
Since this model was initially designed for commercial use, great attention was paid to ensuring high fuel efficiency during its development. One of the solutions was to minimize the number of individual tread elements. At the same time, each of them was increased in size, which made it possible to increase their deformation resistance. As a result, it was possible to significantly reduce rolling resistance, which directly affects fuel consumption.
Very long service life
Another beneficial distinction of this tire is its very high durability. It was achieved through the use of a number of original technical solutions. One of them was to ensure optimal pressure distribution across the contact patch. To do this, the South Korean tire manufacturer significantly strengthened the carcass, which received several additional design elements. Additionally, the profile of the shoulder areas was changed accordingly, and they themselves became much more massive, which increased their resistance to deformation that occurs during movement. At the same time, four longitudinal ribs have equal sizes.
As a result, external pressure became much more evenly distributed across the Hankook AL15 contact patch, which not only increased the tread's resistance to uneven wear but also increased the load capacity and improved handling.
Another area of focus for increasing the service life was the rubber compound. It was introduced with components of a new generation, which significantly increased the tread's resistance to abrasive wear, which also had a very favorable effect on the service life of the entire tire.
Excellent traction in any conditions
It is also worth noting the high traction properties that this model demonstrates, both on dry and wet roads. This is due to the tread pattern, which has a very large contact patch and a carefully calculated radius of curvature of the tread profile. When loaded, it becomes maximum, while its area remains stable, regardless of the characteristics of the road surface and the driving mode.
As for rainy conditions, everything is also in order here. First and foremost, this is due to the drainage system, which consists of five very wide and deep longitudinal grooves, the volume of which allows for easy removal of almost any amount of water from the contact patch. Additionally, their walls have a wavy profile, which prevents stones and other foreign objects from getting stuck in them.
Main features of the Hankook AL15 tire
- extremely wide range of applications is ensured by excellent applicability, the possibility of use on any axle of trucks and buses throughout the year;
- six rigid longitudinal ribs guarantee excellent directional stability at any speed;
- low rolling resistance, thanks to the minimal number of tread edges, as well as their location at a significant angle to the direction of movement;
- wide shoulder areas provide optimal load distribution across the contact patch, which minimizes the likelihood of uneven wear;
- high braking efficiency on wet roads, excellent traction properties in the longitudinal direction, thanks to the multitude of wavy lamellas in the central part of the tread.
