Description Hankook AH22+
The Hankook AH22+ truck tire has been in the production lineup of the South Korean tire giant for several years, but its operational characteristics remain relevant today. This model was specifically designed for regional transportation, which is reflected in its design, featuring a wide breaker, reinforced sidewalls, and a universal tread pattern, making it suitable for use on any axis of trucks and buses.
Long service life, reliability, and high fuel efficiency
When developing this model, the specialists of the South Korean company were well aware that for tires used in interregional transportation, it is crucial to ensure not only maximum durability but also resistance to aggressive external influences and very high fuel economy indicators. These three areas were given primary attention.
Reinforced carcass
This model owes its increased service life to the design of the carcass, which has been significantly reinforced. Similar changes were made to the tire's sidewalls. As a result, it was possible to ensure a very even distribution of external pressure across the contact patch. In turn, this led to a significant reduction in the likelihood of uneven wear, even if the tire is operated with maximum load.
Another consequence of the reinforced carcass was an increase in resistance to dynamic deformations that occur during movement. Thanks to this feature, rolling resistance, and therefore fuel consumption, were significantly reduced. Additionally, the reinforced carcass, in combination with the optimal profile, gave the contact patch a rectangular shape, which remains stable under any conditions. This made it possible to significantly improve handling, making it much easier to manage a heavy vehicle.
Optimized tread pattern
The main feature of the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern of this model is the stability of the traction characteristics throughout its entire service life. It consists of two functional zones - central and shoulder. The central part of the Hankook AH22+ is occupied by three longitudinal ribs, consisting of separate quadrangular blocks. These tread elements are arranged in such a way that when they come into contact with the road surface, they form very extended zigzag-shaped edges of adhesion. Thanks to them, optimal traction and adhesion properties are ensured even at a high level of tread wear, as well as a high level of ride comfort and controllability in any weather conditions, regardless of road surface characteristics.
The shoulder zones are solid structural elements that minimize the risk of damage from impacts. Additionally, their massive size, combined with the stiffness of the design, made it possible to significantly increase the tire's load-carrying capacity while ensuring optimal distribution of external pressure across the contact patch, which, in turn, led to an increase in resistance to uneven wear.
Innovative Mixing System technology
As in other Hankook truck tires, this model uses the Innovative Mixing System technology for preparing the rubber compound. Its main advantage is the uniform distribution of all components, in particular, rubber and carbon black particles. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly increase the tread's resistance to uneven wear, which significantly extended the service life of the tire as a whole.
Key features of the Hankook AH22+ tire
- The tire, designed for use on any axis of trucks and buses, is distinguished by its durability, puncture and cut resistance, and low fuel consumption;
- The wide breaker, reinforced carcass, and sidewalls provide high resistance to dynamic deformation even under maximum load, which reduces rolling resistance and increases the service life due to its more even distribution across the contact patch;
- The numerous blocks in the central part of the tread form very extended transverse zigzag-shaped grooves, which provide optimal adhesion throughout the tire's service life;
- Special notches in the shoulder zones reduce the likelihood of tears and other mechanical damage;
- The multiple edges of adhesion in the central part of the tread provide high braking efficiency and traction properties in the longitudinal direction.
