They are provided through the use of a number of technological innovations and modern materials. "Smart" tread pattern
This tire was one of the first models of the North American concern, where the Smart TRED technology was applied. Its essence lies in the division of the tread pattern into several functional areas. Each of them improves certain operational properties, making the tire universal and adapted to operation on the most diverse types of coverage. At the same time, it is impossible not to note that the basis for Smart TRED was the developments first used back in the 80s of the last century. We are, of course, talking about the V-shaped tread pattern, which in this version has acquired an increased number of thousands of gripping edges.
Three-dimensional lamellas
Like models designed for use in winter, this tire has a tread with numerous lamellas. Their design feature is the so-called "waffle" structure of the walls. Having many differently directed protrusions, they close between themselves when contacting the road surface, limiting the mobility of the blocks and fixing the lamella in the open position. The edges formed in this process provide the tire with more reliable traction, especially on ice and rolled snow.
Durability and low fuel consumption
When developing this model, increased attention was paid to ensuring environmental characteristics - durability and fuel efficiency. In particular, the tire tread has a practically flat profile, which gives the contact patch a more acceptable square shape in terms of even pressure distribution. In combination with special polymers in the compound composition, this prevents uneven wear. In turn, the significant inclination of all gripping edges reduces rolling resistance.
