The Goodyear Ultragrip Performance GEN-1 SUV winter tire is based on the same model for passenger cars. With an identical tread pattern, this tire for SUVs and crossovers differs in its increased contact patch size, reinforced carcass, and sidewalls.
The creation of this model used developments first tested by the North American tire giant back in the early 80s of the last century. However, those solutions proved to be so effective that their further development allowed this tire to have excellent operational characteristics, particularly in terms of snow traction, where its V-Tread tread shows the highest efficiency.
Another such "borrowed" technology is the 3D-BIS lamellas. In their current version, they are located almost close to each other, which made it possible to significantly increase the number of gripping edges, thereby improving the gripping properties on ice and snow without compromising handling on asphalt.
A truly original feature of this model is the reduced size of the tread blocks. Thanks to this, the tire demonstrates excellent performance on rolled snow.
Key features of the Goodyear Ultragrip Performance GEN-1 SUV model
- V-Tread tread with reduced block sizes provides the tire with excellent performance on snow;
- increased lamellization density thanks to the updated 3D-BIS technology;
- rubber compound with characteristics stable over a very wide temperature range;
- increased contact patch size improves traction on any surface;
- numerous drainage grooves arranged against the direction of travel effectively clean the contact patch of water and slush.
