The winter tire Goodyear Ultragrip Performance GEN-1 + SUV is installed on crossovers, SUVs, and pickups. It was developed based on the same-name "passenger" model, differing from it with a reinforced carcass and sidewalls, a changed composition of the rubber compound. As a result of such adaptation, the driving characteristics have hardly changed. The tire demonstrates excellent braking efficiency for its class on winter roads, reliable traction and handling, and easy control over the vehicle's trajectory in complex situations.
The contact patch has a practically square shape, which guarantees an even distribution of the weight load on it. This is achieved due to the arrangement and shape of the elements of the tread pattern and the optimization of the tire's tread profile. Such technical solutions improve traction and its stability on dry surfaces, increasing the accuracy of handling when maneuvering.
The tread pattern is literally dotted with narrow slits - lamellas. When in contact with the road surface, they form sharp wavy edges, which gives the tire the ability to very effectively transmit traction and braking force to the road surface, especially when there is insufficient traction with it. The vertical walls of the lamellas have a "three-dimensional" profile. With its help, when in contact with the road, the slits are fixed in the open position, and also increase the stiffness of the blocks, which leads to improved handling.
Key features of Goodyear Ultragrip Performance GEN-1 + SUV
- the optimized tread profile and arrangement of its pattern elements increase the contact patch, improving traction and handling regardless of road conditions;
- the arrangement of blocks in groups provides a contact patch with long high edges, allowing for intense acceleration and deceleration on snow, maintaining course stability in such conditions;
- numerous 3D lamellas with wavy edges provide effective transmission of traction and braking force to the road surface, especially when there is insufficient traction with it;
- the arrangement of tread blocks with an offset relative to each other increases the useful area of the tire's tread, reduces wear and noise level when moving.
