The Goodyear UltraGrip Ice SUV GEN-1 SCT winter tire is a special version of the same-named model for SUV category vehicles. With practically identical driving qualities, it differs from it with excellent acoustic comfort for this class of tires, which is better than most similar products from other brands.

The tire uses SoundControl technology. A layer of special polyurethane foam is applied to the inner side. The elasticity and presence of numerous small voids in this material allow it to almost completely absorb sounds and vibrations that occur when the tire rolls and rubs against the road surface. As a result, the low-frequency hum characteristic of winter tires is almost completely absent in the car's cabin.

This model belongs to the so-called "friction" tires, i.e., the coupling properties on slippery winter roads are mainly ensured by the tread pattern. It is distinguished by the "signature" design of the V-Tread for tires of the North American brand and the presence of an increased number of coupling edges. They are formed by blocks and wavy lamellas cut into them. The arrow-shaped arrangement of drainage grooves, their increased volume, and direction against movement provide the tire with excellent coupling properties and course stability on snow-covered roads.

The effectiveness of the tread is fully preserved even at extremely low temperatures. This is due to the ability of the compound to maintain elasticity in such conditions. It is ensured by a composition based on silicon dioxide. In addition, the rubber mixture contains special polymers that increase the strength of the tread on tearing and stretching at the molecular level, while maintaining these properties at temperatures below minus 30 degrees Celsius.
