Description Goodyear Marathon Coach
The Goodyear Marathon Coach truck tire was specifically designed for buses. When creating it, this renowned North American manufacturer was guided, first and foremost, by the requests of end-users. It turned out that most European bus companies have special requirements for fuel efficiency, service life, comfort, and traction on wet roads. This model is perfectly suitable for installation on any bus axle.
This tire is one of the few models equipped with a tread having an asymmetric directional pattern design. This tread pattern structure has given the tire excellent operating characteristics, which remain at a consistently high level, regardless of the road conditions.
The tread of the Goodyear Marathon Coach model consists of five very wide longitudinal ribs, separated by quite wide drainage grooves. The tread longitudinal ribs located in the central part are equipped with a large number of lamellas. Thanks to these lamellas, the tire's contact patch always has a large number of sharp edges, which provide high traction. Additionally, the edges of the tread ribs are equipped with special notches, which improve the distribution of pressure across the contact patch, thereby preventing the development of uneven wear.
Another undeniable advantage of the tread is the massive size of all its elements. Due to this, the distribution of pressure across the contact patch occurs more evenly, which significantly increases the tread's resistance to wear.
Main features of the Goodyear Marathon Coach
- The unique asymmetric directional tread pattern design for a bus tire provides excellent traction characteristics in various road conditions;
- The optimal distribution of pressure across the contact patch due to the massive size of the tread ribs reduces the likelihood of uneven wear, significantly extending the tire's service life;
- Excellent fuel efficiency due to reduced rolling resistance, which was achieved through the solid construction of the tread ribs;
- Good directional stability due to the tread being equipped with five wide longitudinal ribs.
