Goodyear UltraGrip Ice Navi NH

DescriptionDescription Goodyear UltraGrip Ice Navi NH
The Goodyear UltraGrip Ice Navi NH winter tire was created with the specific climatic conditions of the country of the rising sun in mind. Like its predecessor, it is distinguished by its effectiveness when slowing down and maneuvering on icy surfaces. And it is precisely these properties that have been significantly improved in this model.
Increased blocks in the central part
One of the distinctive features of the tread is the enlarged blocks in the central part. These elements have high resistance to deformation, which, combined with their increased contact area with the road surface, improves directional stability on dry surfaces. The long transverse gripping edges formed by the blocks contribute to more effective tread operation when slowing down.
Zigzag transverse grooves
It is worth noting the unusual zigzag shape of the transverse drainage grooves. This expands the functionality of these elements, which contribute to better stability during longitudinal accelerations on snowy surfaces.
Resistance to aquaplaning and slash-planning
The main function of the above-mentioned transverse grooves is to divert water, snow, and their mixture with road dirt from the contact patch. Like the longitudinal elements, they have an increased width and depth, thanks to which the tire demonstrates high resistance to aquaplaning and slash-planning.
3D-lamellas
Compared to the previous model, the number of gripping edges has been increased by 13%. The bulk of this increase is provided by numerous lamellas, which are located significantly denser. This significantly enhances the grip properties on rolled snow and icy surfaces. At the same time, manageability remains comfortable due to the three-dimensional structure of the side walls of the lamellas. When in contact with the road surface, they fix the slit in the open position, limiting the mobility of the block. Here it is worth noting the different direction of these elements. On the very edge of the shoulder blocks, there are longitudinal lamellas. When maneuvering, they enhance the stability of the tire on icy surfaces.
Optimized contact patch shape
Another important difference from the previous model is the shape of the contact patch. It has been optimized to increase the evenness of the external load distribution over it. For these purposes, the frame design has been significantly strengthened, and the tread profile in the side projection has been changed. As a result, the stability of the grip properties has increased, and wear has decreased.
Main features:
- increased blocks in the central part increase stability and directional stability at high speed;
- zigzag transverse drainage grooves enhance grip during longitudinal acceleration;
- increased density of lamella arrangement compared to the previous model;
- optimized contact patch shape improves handling, reduces wear.

Excellent value for money +/- quality. Even before all the crises and "events" they were not expensive (for their parks we take/test the best: Nokian, Mich, Pirelli, Conti, Yoko, Dunlop, Bridg).
Just a little better on wet and snowy roads (but I'm nitpicking already)... corners are held well, the edges are not polished from the factory - sharp side lugs are very grippy on ice/snow/mud, when starting they don't slip much, acceleration is just perfect (surprisingly without studs), during counter-emergency maneuvers they easily catch "traction" again. On snow, everything is fine, thanks to the spruce pattern of the tread they dig well in snowdrifts and "mash" (we have 4WD all cars). Wear is small, even, in normal driving they are close to "eternal"...
Not loud, noise at speeds over 150 km/h is residual, and even in comparison with top brands, not the lightest, they save fuel (roll without gas, almost without resistance). High-quality medium-soft material: as an indicator, they do not become hard even at -35°C (ours are from Japan, and Asians grow and do not spare rubber + breed + technology) due to which there is a dense effort (ideal control on the steering wheel, even in turns at 110-150 km/h), during normal driving for 8-10 years there are no cracks (just store them correctly). Well made (out of 300 tires, not a single defective one). In our region, the roads are mediocre: in general, out of 100 tires, only 1-2 get blown, they withstand approximately 80 km/h decently on puncture (this cord stiffness almost does not reduce comfort)
**In winter, take a narrower width (when driving on ice/snow - so even narrower) for pressure on the road and a bullet pass through a snowdrift (but not narrower than the disk). Reviews - from jeeps/sedans/vans... and opinions clearly differ (weight, suspension, region, wear, skills - all have their own) - read about cars similar to yours
You can take them, even used !!! but manage to sell before 60% wear (they become harder towards the end)

Mega-universal all-weather comfort winter tire.
For the first time in more than 15 years, I consciously decided to experiment and, on the advice of friends, bought a non-studded winter tire. Until now, I have always driven only on studded tires from Goodyear, Gislaved, Michelin, Nokian...
