Description Goodyear Fuel Max T
The Goodyear FuelMax T summer cargo tire is one of three representatives of a new line of so-called "energy-efficient" tires. This model is primarily distinguished by very low rolling resistance values compared to any other tires of the same class produced by this North American manufacturer. Unlike the other two representatives of the FuelMax line, this tire is designed for installation on the trailer axles of trucks operating on high-speed highways. Compared to previous models, it has a 10% improved rolling resistance and a 15% increased mileage.
Size range
Currently, this model is offered by the North American manufacturer in two sizes – 435/50R19.5 and 385/65R22.5. With the same maximum load of 9000 kg, both options differ from each other in speed index and noise level. The tire with a rim diameter of 22.5 inches has slightly better parameters.
Special rubber compound composition
As is known, a large part of the operational properties of modern tires is provided by the characteristics of the rubber compound. This model fully corresponds to this statement, since it is this factor that provides it with excellent grip on a wet road, as well as increased resistance to both abrasive and uneven wear.
"Multi-radius" grooves
Another distinctive feature of this model is the special grooves cut into all longitudinal tread ribs. These elements provide additional reduction of rolling resistance, which in turn provides the tire with even more fuel efficiency. In addition, these grooves create a multitude of transverse gripping edges during movement, thanks to which this model demonstrates excellent braking efficiency, especially on a wet road.
Excellent resistance to aquaplaning
This model owes its excellent grip on a wet road largely to two wide longitudinal drainage grooves that separate the central part of the tread pattern from its shoulder zones. These tread elements have a significant internal volume, which allows them to drain almost any amount of water from the contact patch, thus providing high resistance to aquaplaning.
Five wide longitudinal ribs
Unlike most similar tire products from other brands, the tread pattern of this model has a reduced number of longitudinal ribs. There are only five of them, but they have massive sizes, which provide a number of important operational characteristics. First of all, this is the significant size of the contact patch, which provides excellent gripping properties on dry asphalt. In addition, it is impossible not to note the optimized distribution of external pressure over the contact patch, which, in turn, has a positive effect on handling, resistance to uneven wear, and carrying capacity.
Main features of the Goodyear Fuel Max T cargo tire
- exceptionally high fuel efficiency and mileage are provided by original solutions in the design of the tread pattern and carcass, as well as an optimized rubber compound composition;
- five massive longitudinal ribs increase the size of the contact patch, improve directional stability, reduce rolling resistance;
- the reinforced construction of the shoulder zones optimizes the distribution of external pressure over the contact patch, which improves carrying capacity and resistance to uneven wear.
