Description Goodyear Fuel Max D
The Goodyear FuelMax D summer cargo tire is one of the latest developments from the renowned and respected North American tire manufacturer. This novelty belongs to the family of "energy-efficient" FuelMax models, designed for installation on the driving axles of cargo trucks used in international and intercity transportation. A distinctive feature of this model is the improved rolling resistance (by 10%) and mileage (by 15%) compared to its predecessors.
Increased tread width
One of the features of this model is a tread with an increased width, as well as a reduced number of longitudinal tread ribs, down to five. Such a design has made it possible to significantly increase their size, which, in combination with a very high resistance to dynamic deformation, has given the Goodyear Fuel Max D tire a number of important advantages. One of them is reduced rolling resistance, which directly affects fuel efficiency, reducing it. Also, it is impossible not to note the excellent directional stability that this tire demonstrates when moving at high speed. And another advantage of such a design is the improvement of traction properties achieved through the increase in the size of the contact patch.
Drainage grooves with a wavy profile bottom
One of the interesting features of this model is the design of the four drainage grooves located between the longitudinal tread ribs. Their bottom has a wavy profile. With the help of this original technical solution, the North American tire manufacturers have increased the stiffness of the longitudinal ribs, which, in turn, has made it possible to further reduce rolling resistance and fuel consumption, as well as improve directional stability. In addition, the grooves with a wavy profile bottom reduce the level of resonant noise and vibrations, which has a beneficial effect on the level of acoustic comfort.
Directed design of symmetrical tread pattern
When developing this model, considerable attention was paid to ensuring maximum traction properties in the longitudinal direction. It is for this reason that the edges of all tread blocks are located at a significant angle to the direction of movement. This technical solution has made it possible to significantly increase the length of all traction edges, and their diagonal arrangement has reduced the noise level.
Zigzag edges of tread blocks in the central part
A distinctive feature of the design of the tread blocks of the odd longitudinal ribs is the zigzag transverse edges. When in contact with a water-covered road surface, they, due to their shape, like blades, penetrate through the water film, providing the tire with more reliable traction. As a result, it demonstrates excellent efficiency, both when accelerating and braking on a wet road.
