The Goodyear Eagle F1 passenger tire is a great example of how improving one parameter does not lead to the deterioration of other characteristics. The North American tire makers have achieved this by using various technical solutions that complement and enhance each other.
Active Braking Technology
One such technical solution is the Active Braking technology, which significantly improves the tire's efficiency during braking. Its essence lies in the programmable deformation of the tread blocks, which, during longitudinal acceleration, significantly increase the contact patch area. This ensures more reliable traction not only during braking but also during acceleration.
Optimized Carcass Construction
Another key feature of this model is the carcass construction. It is made of several layers of synthetic cord, with the threads in each layer arranged at an angle of around 86 degrees, creating numerous intersections between them. This has significantly improved the tire's resistance to dynamic deformation and, as a result, increased the accuracy and speed of reactions to steering wheel turns, as well as improved the stability and reliability of traction properties during maneuvering, acceleration, and braking.
Updated Rubber Compound Composition
When developing the rubber compound composition for this model, the North American tire makers aimed to improve several of its operational characteristics - braking and handling, both on dry and wet roads. This was achieved by significantly increasing the silica content and adding special polymer compounds. These materials, on the one hand, allowed the tread to be given increased elasticity, and on the other hand, improved its resistance to wear and tears.
