The Gislaved VanControl Ice winter commercial tire is designed for use on vans and light trucks that operate in regions with very cold climates. It is characterized by a combination of high load-carrying capacity, durability, and improved traction properties on icy and snowy surfaces.
The tire features a virtually flat tread profile and a dense arrangement of tread pattern elements. This combination increases the contact patch, ensuring a maximally even distribution of load across it, which in turn increases the tire's load-carrying capacity, its resistance to cracks and wear, as well as significantly improving its traction properties and handling. The tread pattern consists of a combination of massive blocks arranged in such a way that when moving, they form a continuous series of elongated V-shaped edges. This significantly improves traction and braking properties on snow and wet surfaces while maintaining low rolling resistance and noise. The effectiveness of the tire on icy surfaces is ensured by numerous lamellas with saw-tooth edges and studs. The incisions, having walls with a "three-dimensional" profile, improve the stability of traction properties when braking and accelerating, making it much easier to control the trajectory of the vehicle's movement. The performance of the tire in such conditions is largely determined by the characteristics of the rubber compound used in its manufacture. It retains a significant amount of elasticity at low temperatures, allowing the tread to closely fit even the smallest irregularities on the road surface, increasing the effectiveness of the tread elements.
