The Fulda Road 4x4 summer tire is one of the novelties of this famous German manufacturer, specially designed for SUVs, pickups and crossovers. This model is produced in almost two dozen of the most popular sizes, ranging from 195/80R15 to 255/55R19, which indicates the possibility of using this tire on most modern passenger cars with increased passability. At the same time, many sizes can have two versions of execution, differing in speed and maximum load indices.
German tire engineers have equipped the tread of this model with a highly efficient S-shaped non-directional symmetrical tread pattern, which has a progressive five-rib design. The double rib located in the center of the tread has very high structural rigidity, both in the longitudinal and transverse directions. Thanks to this, it was possible to significantly reduce the braking distance, as well as provide excellent directional stability and high maneuverability of the Fulda Road 4x4 tire.
The two longitudinal ribs located next to each other consist of many quadrangular blocks. The small distance between the blocks made it possible to ensure not only the maximum possible contact patch area but also an even distribution of the external load on it. This technical solution allowed, on the one hand, to achieve excellent traction with a dry surface, and on the other hand, to reduce the likelihood of uneven wear. In addition, the numerous edges formed by these blocks provide reliable traction with a wet surface.
Another distinctive feature of this tire is the thoughtful design of the drainage system. Four longitudinal grooves in combination with a system of transverse channels made it possible to achieve excellent resistance to aquaplaning. In addition, the transverse drainage channels located in the central part of the tread have an elliptical shape, which contributes to a significant increase in the speed of water circulation around the contact patch.
