Description Falken e.Ziex
The summer tyre Falken e.Ziex is designed with electric and passenger vehicles in mind, for which low rolling resistance and acoustic comfort are important. The model features an asymmetric tread pattern, specially engineered block edge geometry, and an optimised profile. These solutions help reduce energy losses during driving while maintaining grip on both dry and wet asphalt.
Uniform pressure in the contact patch
The edges of the tread elements have a specifically selected inclined shape. This reduces local pressure peaks at the edges of the blocks and helps distribute the load more evenly across their surface. As a result, a larger working area contributes to transmitting braking and lateral forces. More uniform pressure distribution also promotes even wear, which is especially beneficial during everyday use of a heavy electric vehicle.
Reduced energy losses
The tyre profile and shoulder zone contours are designed to reduce rolling resistance. Their geometry helps limit excessive rubber deformation under load, which would otherwise consume part of the vehicle's energy. The materials are developed using Advanced 4D-Nano Design technology: analysing the rubber compound at the molecular level enables optimising its properties to combine fuel efficiency, grip, and durability. For electric vehicles, reduced rolling losses contribute to more efficient use of battery charge.
Performance on wet asphalt
Longitudinal grooves divide the tread into stable ribs and form the main channels for water evacuation. Transverse sipes supplement the drainage system by collecting water from the surface of individual tread elements. Combined with optimized pressure distribution across tread blocks, this helps maintain effective road contact in rainy conditions. Large shoulder areas support the edges of the contact patch during manoeuvring.
Tread pattern for acoustic comfort
Grooves in adjacent tread sections are staggered. Their edges make contact with the road surface sequentially, reducing simultaneous impact forces of tread elements on the asphalt. This helps lower pattern-generated noise during rolling. This approach is particularly beneficial for electric vehicles, where road noise is more noticeable inside the cabin due to the quiet operation of the powertrain.
