The winter studded tire Dunlop SP Winter Ice 01 is perfectly suited for most models of passenger cars, including crossovers. In the development of this tire, modern computer modeling tools were widely used, which largely determined its excellent driving characteristics.
The symmetrical directional tread pattern features an original V-shaped design, consisting of five longitudinal ribs, including the shoulder areas. A distinctive feature of the central part of the tread is the longitudinal rib located in its very center, equipped with zigzag edges. This allows the tire to demonstrate excellent braking and acceleration efficiency, as well as maintain excellent directional stability even at high speeds.
Also, in the center of the tread pattern of the Dunlop Sp Winter Ice 01 tire, there are two more ribs, each of which consists, in turn, of two rows of rectangular blocks. This design feature made it possible to provide a larger contact patch area, which had a beneficial effect on traction on dry roads. In addition, the large number of blocks with many sharp edges provided the tire with excellent traction characteristics when driving on a snowy surface.
Another distinctive feature of this tire is the new studding technology, as a result of which the steel stud is in a strictly perpendicular position at the moment of contact with the road surface, which improved traction when driving on ice. Additional traction with an icy surface is provided by a multitude of S-shaped lamellas, forming additional traction edges without compromising the stiffness of the tread elements.
Main features of the Dunlop SP Winter Ice 01 tire
- excellent traction with various types of surfaces, thanks to the V-shaped design of the symmetrical directional tread pattern;
- excellent elasticity at low temperatures and high wear resistance of the tread due to the use of silicon-containing components in the rubber compound;
- advanced studding technology, allowing the studs to maintain a perpendicular position when in contact with the road surface.
