DescriptionDescription Dunlop Ice Touch
The Dunlop Ice Touch studded tire was specifically designed for the unpredictable climate of Northern European countries, including Russia. This model belongs to the latest generation of studded winter tires, providing unparalleled handling characteristics on various types of road surfaces, from bare ice and snow to dry asphalt.
One of the distinctive features of this winter tire from the renowned British manufacturer is the use of the same innovative technologies as another novelty of the upcoming winter season - the studded winter tire Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice Arctic. In particular, the Multicontrol Ice technology was used in this model, one of the main components of which is the original triangular spike. To ensure high acceleration efficiency on slippery surfaces, the upper hard alloy insert of the spike is equipped with sharp edges that create effective traction. The smooth transitions on the spike body allow the tire to maintain excellent directional stability when cornering, when the tire is subjected to strong lateral accelerations. To increase braking efficiency on icy surfaces, the back of the spike has a large cross-sectional area. In addition, thanks to the triangular design and factory installation technology, the spikes are not only firmly held in the tread but also do not rotate throughout the life of the tire.
The Dunlop IceTouch tire tread features a V-shaped pattern, the design of which is distinguished by an increased width of the central rib. This design feature has provided the tire with a larger contact patch area, allowing it to demonstrate high acceleration and braking efficiency on dry surfaces. In addition, the central rib of the tread consists of many sharp-angled blocks, which, due to the formed sharp edges, provide excellent traction on slippery surfaces.
Another distinctive feature of this model is the presence of a large number of lamellas on the surface of all tread elements, arranged in different directions. Thanks to the multitude of formed edges, the tire demonstrates excellent traction on slippery surfaces in any conditions and in all directions.
The composition of the rubber compound of the Dunlop Ice Touch tire was selected based on the conditions of operation at low temperatures. In order to provide elasticity even at negative temperatures, special polymeric components were included in the composition of the rubber compound, thanks to which it was possible to significantly improve traction on snowy surfaces. In addition, the wide and deep transverse grooves provide high self-cleaning efficiency of the tread, which led to an increase in the tire's passability through loose snow. These same grooves, effectively removing snow, dirt, and water from the contact patch, provide excellent resistance to aquaplaning, ensuring a high level of safety during thaws.
It is also worth noting that the tread of this tire is equipped with so-called "dynamic bridges". This design solution made it possible to significantly increase the stiffness of the tread, reducing its tendency to deformations that occur during large lateral accelerations. Thanks to this technical feature, it was possible to significantly improve directional stability, as well as acceleration and braking efficiency when driving on dry roads. In addition, due to the reduction of deformations, the likelihood of uneven tread wear decreased, which led to an increase in the life of the tire.

Great tires!!! Exploited for 1 season from the moment of acquisition to the Kamchatka spring (from late December to April 25) on a snow-covered track with no slippery patches and on an icy asphalt there were no problems. In the city there are many slopes and inclines, the car is not thrown off, not towed in turns.
For the season there were 2 "moments of truth" - emergency braking when the fate of the accident was decided

So I plan to put 225/55 17 tires on my 2015 Mazda 6. On the website I saw a review of a new Mazda, but it was dated 2008. Previously, I had a similar Mazda from 2013, which had Goodyear Ice Arctic winter tires installed. The tires performed well for me in Murmansk, and I never got stuck on the way to my dacha. I sold the old car in April, so when I bought

I am writing this review in 2020, comparing the winter tires I have tested between 2014-2015 (Dunlop DSX, Bridgestone Blizzak Revo GZ, Nordman 4, Dunlop Ice Touch, Nokian Hakkapeliitta 4, 7, 8, Michelin X-Ice North 4). I live in Ufa and our winters are very snowy, with temperatures mainly around -10°C. The advantages are

Handling on ice and snow
- A decent option for winter tires for use in major cities.
Created using the same technologies as Goodyear tires and produced at the same Polish factory, these tires are a more "sporty" version of winter tires - and are primarily focused on driving on cleared roads. On pure ice, rolled snow - these tires are only slightly worse than Goodyear's when accelerating and braking. However, when cornering, the behavior of the car becomes nervous and poorly predictable. In deep snow, the tires are completely helpless. However, on dry asphalt, Dunlop tires are among the best, and among studded tires, they are the best. And in terms of acoustic comfort, they are preferable to Goodyear.

- Tires are recommended for those who mostly drive on cleaned asphalt roads.
In the overall rating, they lost to Goodyear by only 0.1 points.
Handling problems on ice: in the transverse direction, the tires hold noticeably worse than in the longitudinal direction. It's difficult to drive a car on a winding track due to sharp, unexpected skidding.
On snow - the minimum braking distance! At the same time, acceleration and handling are just as "sluggish" as on ice.
On dry pavement - the minimum braking distance and the maximum speed of the turn. The car responds clearly and quickly to steering wheel turns. However, there is a side effect - increased stiffness when passing small irregularities.
