Description Doublestar DSR868
The cargo tire Doublestar DSR868 has a somewhat unusual application area. This model is one of the few that was developed specifically for operation in the winter season. As for applicability, it is limited to the driving axles of trucks used in interregional transportation. Among other distinctive features of this tire, it is worth noting the increased traction and coupling characteristics on winter surfaces.
Increased number of engagement edges
As you know, the coupling of the Doublestar DSR868 tire with a slippery surface directly depends on the number of engagement edges. This model has an excellent performance in this regard, as it has a large number of individual tread elements. They form eight longitudinal rows, each with different design features.
Structure of the central part of the tread pattern
The central part of the tread of this model contains four longitudinal ribs formed by numerous blocks. They have a shape that vaguely resembles a rectangle. At the same time, their long edges are parallel to the direction of movement, which provides the tire with excellent steering stability.
However, the presence of a significant number of transverse lamellas on their surface seems much more important. These tread elements form a huge number of additional engagement edges during movement, which ensures coupling on a slippery road in the longitudinal direction.
Original design of the shoulder areas of the tread
In contrast to the central part, the shoulder areas of the tread have a composite structure. On the inside, there are hexagonal blocks connected to each other by rigid bridges, and on the outside, there are massive four-sided elements. Such a structure, on the one hand, provides a more even distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, and on the other hand, allows to significantly reduce the braking distance on winter surfaces.
Main features of the Doublestar DSR868 tire
- the tire was specifically designed for operation on winter surfaces;
- intended for installation on the driving axles of trucks;
- the increased number of engagement edges provides the tire with confident behavior on snow and ice;
- eight longitudinal ribs improve steering stability on winter surfaces and also reduce rolling resistance.
