The Cooper Discoverer Radial AST II all-season passenger tire, from one of the most renowned North American manufacturers, is designed for crossovers, pickups, and other high-performance vehicles.
Despite its low cost, the tire incorporates all advanced design developments. The tire features an original symmetric tread pattern design with no direction. The tread pattern consists of three rows of individual blocks of polygonal shape, located in the central part of the tread, and shoulder areas, also consisting of individual blocks. Due to the original shape of the blocks with optimized pitch, it was possible to significantly reduce the noise level. Additionally, this chess-like arrangement of blocks contributes to an increase in the tire's contact area Cooper Discoverer Radial AST II, which improves the tire's basic operational characteristics on solid surfaces. The polygonal shape of the blocks, due to the large number of sharp edges, allows increasing the tire's passability when driving on rough terrain. It is also worth noting the presence of self-locking lamellas on the surface of the blocks, which increase their stiffness, positively affecting the handling characteristics.
For highly efficient removal of dirt, water, and snow from the tire's contact patch, the tread pattern is equipped with four longitudinal drainage grooves and numerous transverse channels formed by the arrangement of tread elements.
Main features of the Cooper Discoverer Radial AST II tire
- excellent handling characteristics, both on roads with solid surfaces and off them, ensured by the original tread pattern design;
- due to the special shape of the blocks, the tire has excellent passability on unstable soils, as well as a low noise level;
- a large contact patch area, provided by the chess-like arrangement of blocks;
- self-locking lamellas on the surface of the blocks increase their stiffness, thereby further improving the tire's basic operational characteristics.
