Description Continental Scandinavia HS3
The commercial tire Continental Scandinavia HS3 is designed for operation in harsh winter conditions. It is installed on the steering axis of high-capacity trucks and highway tractors. It is distinguished by improved traction properties on icy and snowy surfaces, reduced rolling resistance, and elasticity at negative temperatures.
The tread pattern is notable for its numerous lamellas. Forming hundreds of sharp edges, they allow the tire to maintain stability on slippery winter roads, demonstrating excellent braking intensity for commercial tires in such conditions. The lamellas are cut to an increased depth, which allows them to retain their effectiveness even with significant tread wear. It has a two-layer structure. The upper part, which is in direct contact with the road surface, is made of a rubber mixture with increased elasticity, which is maintained even at very low temperatures. This significantly improves traction properties in winter. In turn, the lower "base" layer is made of a rigid compound. Such a "substrate" limits the mobility of the tread blocks and ribs, increasing the accuracy of control and directional stability, reducing rolling resistance, and slowing down the wear process of the tire's tread.
Key features of Continental Scandinavia HS3
- a large number of lamellas provides excellent stability and braking efficiency on slippery winter surfaces;
- a two-layer tread improves all the main operational qualities of the tire;
- a all-steel cord improves directional stability and steering accuracy, reduces wear and fuel consumption, and allows the tread pattern to be restored multiple times.
