The Bridgestone Turanza T001 summer tire has come to replace the ER300 model, which until recently was an example of maneuverability and reliability. The novelty has surpassed its predecessor in all respects, but especially in terms of handling at high speeds. Like most other Bridgestone products, the Turanza T001 model is distinguished by a well-balanced set of operational qualities. This tire is offered by the manufacturer in 26 sizes for wheels with a landing diameter from 14 to 17 inches, as well as for 19 inches, which provided it with exceptionally wide applicability.
Helmholtz Resonator
When developing this model, Japanese tire engineers paid much attention to ensuring a low noise level. One of the innovations was the transverse drainage grooves located on the outside of the asymmetric tread pattern. Their main feature is a special shape of the walls, which gives the grooves the shape of a vessel, turning them into a resonator.
NanoPro-Tech Rubber Compound
This tire was one of the first to feature the NanoPro-Tech rubber compound technology. Its key feature is the addition of a special polymer to the rubber compound. With its help, it was possible to significantly reduce the heat generation of the tread, created as a result of increased friction between carbon molecules. Thanks to this, the tread has become much more resistant to wear. In addition, due to the new component in the rubber compound, the rolling resistance has been significantly reduced.
Asymmetric Tread Pattern
Like many other tires, the Bridgestone Turanza T001 model is equipped with an asymmetric tread. In its central part, there are three wide longitudinal grooves, the large volume of which made it possible to establish an effective water drainage from the contact patch. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent resistance to aquaplaning when moving at almost any speed.
Compared to the previous model, this tire has improved braking properties, especially on wet asphalt. This was achieved due to the special design of the shoulder areas of the tread. In particular, they are distinguished by increased sizes and the presence of a large number of transversely arranged edges of the grip. In addition, this part of the tread is made of a more rigid rubber compound, which increased the resistance to dynamic deformations.
Flat Spot Technology
Compared to its predecessor, the frame of this model has undergone a number of changes. Thanks to them, it was possible to significantly increase the size of the contact patch, which led to an improvement in the coupling properties. At the same time, its shape became practically rectangular, due to which the external pressure became distributed much more evenly. As a result, the resistance of the tread to uneven wear increased. The addition of additional layers of breaker made it possible to significantly increase the resistance of the tire to dynamic deformation, which led to an improvement in handling.
