Description BFGoodrich Macadam T/A
The universal BFGoodrich Macadam T/A passenger tire from a well-known North American manufacturer is designed for all-wheel drive off-road vehicles, as well as other high-cross-country capability vehicles.
The design of the directed tread pattern of the tire has an appearance similar to the letter "V". The tire is designed for use in urban driving conditions. The tread pattern consists of a narrow central rib, two very wide ribs, and two reinforced shoulder zones with a rounded profile.
The tire is characterized by excellent directional stability when moving, thanks to the continuous rib located in the central part of the tread. In addition, the surface of the central rib is dotted with self-locking lamellas resembling a sinusoid in appearance. This made it possible to improve the traction capabilities of the tire, and also, due to the increased stiffness of the rib, to increase the efficiency of braking. The surface of the two ribs adjacent to the center is equipped with lamellas of the same shape, but facing in the opposite direction.
In addition, the two central ribs contain wide curved channels that increase the speed of water removal from the tire's contact patch BFGoodrich Macadam T/A. At the same time, the transverse channels form additional engagement edges that contribute to improved traction on slippery road sections.
A distinctive feature of the tread pattern of this tire is the large contact area of the tire, provided by wide central ribs and reinforced shoulder zones. Due to this, the tire is characterized by excellent handling characteristics when driving at very high speeds for this category of tires.
It is also worth noting the high efficiency of the tire's fight against aquaplaning, provided by four water-removing grooves located along the entire tread, as well as the special shape of the transverse channels that enhance the intensity of water removal from the contact patch.
Main features of the BFGoodrich Macadam T/A tire
- Excellent traction and coupling characteristics when driving, both on dry and very wet roads, due to the unique design of the tread pattern;
- Very large contact area of the tire, thanks to the wide shoulder zones and central ribs of the tire tread;
- Presence of self-locking lamellas that improve traction and braking characteristics;
- Excellent coupling even with a very wet surface, due to the high efficiency of water removal from the contact patch.
