Berlin ALL SEASON 2 – all-season models designed for operation in a temperate climate with mild winters and warm, rainy summers. The tire features solutions that allow this product to balance between summer efficiency and winter safety without changing sets.
Compromise with a scientific approach
The model uses a bicomponent structure. The upper layer of the tread contains an increased proportion of silica and special polymers. This provides elasticity of the lamellas at temperatures down to -10 C and maintains traction on wet pavement in cold weather. The lower layer is made of more heat-resistant rubber, which takes on mechanical loads at high summer temperatures, preventing softening of the blocks and uneven wear. This two-layer solution increases the life cycle of the tire compared to homogeneous compounds.
Traction on snow and water
The tread is built according to a symmetrical scheme with pronounced directionality. This allows optimizing behavior on both dry asphalt and snowy roads. The key feature is self-locking lamellas. Unlike simple straight slots that close under load, 3D lamellas have a zigzag shape with catches. This provides the following benefits:
- the stiffness of the block is not reduced;
- a multitude of edges are formed, working as catches;
- on wet roads, the lamellas work as drainage channels.
Winter certification
The model has the M+S marking. This means that the tire is certified for use in winter conditions on public roads where the law requires winter tires. On snow, it demonstrates acceptable traction due to the dense saturation of lamellas. On ice, it concedes to specialized studded models, but for the city and cleared country roads, this is enough.
