Description Белшина Бел-188М (Шип)
The Belshina Bel-188M studded winter tyre is designed for passenger cars. Its tread combines metal studs, a large number of wavy sipes, and a directional block arrangement. This design utilises different traction mechanisms on ice, snow, and wet surfaces, while maintaining a solid support in the central part of the tyre.
Studs in multiple rows
The studs are positioned in blocks on both sides of the tread centre and are offset from each other across the width. As the wheel rotates, they sequentially contact different areas of the surface. Their working tips provide mechanical grip on ice, enhancing the rubber's traction during acceleration and braking. Distributing the studs across multiple rows allows different zones of the contact patch to contribute to grip.
Numerous wavy sipes
Fine cuts cover the central area and shoulder blocks. Their wavy edges create a high number of short biting edges, oriented across the direction of travel and at slight angles to it. The sipes supplement stud performance on packed snow and slippery sections. At the same time, the larger tread blocks retain a sufficiently wide base for transmitting forces to the road surface.
Grooves for water and slush
Longitudinal grooves connect to transverse sipes between blocks extending to the shoulder zones. Through this network, water and slush are evacuated from the contact patch. The slanted block edges simultaneously form biting edges for snow traction. A dense central rib supports the tread during straight-line driving, while shoulder areas divided by transverse grooves engage during cornering.
