Description Кама NU 301
All-Season Truck Tire Kama NU-301 is one of the novelties of one of the leading domestic tire manufacturers. This model is produced in one size, 275/70R22.5, and is intended, first and foremost, for installation on any axle of buses that operate mainly in urban conditions.
Tread Pattern Design
The tread pattern of this model features five longitudinal ribs, three of which are located in the central part of the tread, and two ribs are its shoulder zones. When developing this tire, domestic specialists undoubtedly took into account the specifics of operating the tire on route buses, which are characterized by high loads. That's why all tread elements have massive sizes.
The entire central part of the tread is occupied by three rows of large blocks in the shape of a quadrangle, which form the longitudinal ribs. Thanks to this structure of the central part, the tire has gained a lot of advantages. In particular, it was possible to ensure excellent directional stability of the tire when moving in any conditions. Additionally, the minimal distance between the blocks, as well as their massive sizes, made it possible to achieve excellent fuel efficiency due to reduced rolling resistance. Another advantage of this tread pattern is the constant presence of a large number of sharp edges in the contact patch, formed by the numerous blocks of the three longitudinal ribs. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent traction and adhesion on any type of surface, especially on slippery and wet surfaces.
Reliable Traction in Rainy Conditions
One of the undoubted advantages of the novelty is its excellent operating performance in rainy conditions. The Kama NU301 tire is characterized by high resistance to aquaplaning, which was achieved thanks to the excellent performance of the drainage system. The tread of this tire features four very wide and deep longitudinal water drainage grooves, which can accommodate a significant volume of water, even by the standards of truck tires. Then, all this water is quickly removed through numerous transverse drainage channels outside the tread. The result of the high-efficiency drainage system is reliable and stable behavior in unfavorable rainy conditions.
Indicator System
One of the characteristic features of this model is the presence of several indicators. On the sidewall, there is a special wear indicator of this most vulnerable to damage part of the tire. The indicator has the shape of a circle, on which the numbers from 1 to 4 are applied. The number 1 means that the degree of sidewall wear has reached critical values. This means that further operation of the Kama NU 301 tire is unacceptable and does not provide a high level of safety for passenger transportation.
Another group of indicators is located in the central part of the tread and allows visually assessing a number of parameters that characterize the current state of the tread. The numbers 8, 12, and 16 are the residual tread depth. The "snowflake" indicator means that the tread wear is unable to provide the necessary level of safety in winter.
It is worth noting separately the indicator in the form of a knife, which means that the tire tread is suitable for cutting a new pattern. The restoration of the pattern by re-cutting the tread is one of the most effective ways to extend the service life of the tire up to three times.
Main Features of the Kama NU 301 Tire
- Optimized five-rib design of the symmetrical non-directional tread pattern provides excellent directional stability and low rolling resistance;
- A large number of tread blocks located in the central part of the tread forms numerous sharp edges of adhesion, which made it possible to achieve high traction and adhesion, especially on slippery surfaces;
- The reinforced sidewalls of the tire are characterized by high resistance to any aggressive impact, including punctures and cuts;
- Excellent resistance to aquaplaning is provided by the large depth of the tread and a well-designed drainage system, which has excellent performance;
- The massive sizes of the tread elements allow for optimal distribution of pressure across the contact patch, which ensures even tread wear and, therefore, extends the service life of the tire;
- Several indicators allow visually assessing the degree of wear not only of the tread but also of the tire sidewalls;
- The possibility of repeated re-cutting and restoration of the tread pattern allows extending the service life of the tire several times.
